Marcus Newkirk, Shortly after joining the Leggett community in 2021, Marcus joined Leggett Valley Fire and Rescue, officially becoming a firefighter in 2022. Marcus is known to be a determined go-getter. He also lends his expert grilling skills to the Mountain Folk Festival where he is known to make a mean veggie burger among other things! Marcus and his partner Heather have three beautiful children.

ELY REIGHTER Chief, mastermind and leader of Leggett Valley Fire and Rescue, Ely joined the Department in 1997. Ely is a strong leader, a patient teacher, and shares decades of knowledge and experience with his crew. In addition to fire response, Ely has become proficient at doing all the paperwork his position requires! Ely is the father of three beautiful girls and shares his life with his wife, Brianna.

Daniel Rial, began his career as a firefighter in 2023 as a high school student through the Leggett High School Junior Firefighter program. Daniel became a full fledged member in 2024 when he turned 18. Daniel is one to watch. He’s ambitious, motivated, and a quick learner.

Brian Lewis, Capt. began hanging out at the station long before he was old enough to join. He formally began in June, 2019 and earned the title of Captain in 2024 at the age of 22. Brian is known for his consistency of response, his dependability, and his tolerant and easy-going nature. He is engaged to his fiancée Sophia.

Ann Ellen EMT, is known to be “the heart” of Leggett Valley Fire and Rescue. Ann moved to Leggett along with her husband Lloyd in 1983 and raised two fine sons, one of whom is our Assistant Chief! With a nursing background, Ann was the perfect fit and answered the call to become our EMT in 2003. Ann has responded to countless calls, bringing immeasurable comfort, reassurance and expertise to the injured and ill.

John Allen Asst. Chief, joined the Department in 2001 on his 18th birthday. John is well known for his consistency as a first responder with both accidents and fire. John has decades fire behavior experience and has has been nearly a lifelong member of the Leggett community. Guess what ladies... Johnny is single!

Myles Felton, joined the Leggett community in 2014, and Leggett Valley Fire and Rescue in 2023. Myles' first fire call was to the Leggett Post Office Fire. Miles is a solid department member. He is consistent, dedicated, available and responsive. Myles is a family man. Together he and Sara have five brilliant children!

Tucker Mc Call, Jr. Firefighter, began the Junior Firefighter Program through Leggett Valley High School in 2023. Tucker is the next up-coming young firefighter to watch! He is dedicated and enthusiastic and looking forward to turning 18 when he plans to formally join us. Tucker has a bright future ahead!

Mountain Folk Festival is a family oriented music festival with dancing crafts, logging events, food, auction, children’s activities and a community parade. FREE parking, FREE KIDS activities, FREE MUSIC. Good Vibes!! Festivities begin with a parade at 10am.
MUSIC noon until 10 pm. Fun for the whole family. Over 30 Arts and Crafts booths, food, KIDS ZONE with bounce house, Fire Department demonstrations, Axe throw, Logging competitions, Auction and more!
Proceeds benefit the Leggett Volunteer Fire department. Mountain Folk Festival is at the Leggett Fire Station, 101 EXIT 614 SO LEGGETT.
